Girl Math: Hydration Edition
Girl math doesn't need to make sense. It just needs to feel true. Cash purchases are free. Returning something means you made money. And anything under $5 doesn't count as spending at all. So naturally, it was only a matter of time before girl math came for hydration.
Here's the math. Don't check it too closely.
The Twyst Girl Math Breakdown
“It's basically free because I didn't buy a coffee today."
A Twyst costs a couple dollars. An iced coffee costs $6-7. If you didn't get the coffee, the Twyst is not just free, it's profitable. This is science.
"It replaces three things I would've bought anyway."
No shaker bottle. No tub of powder. No separate vitamin gummies. One straw doing the job of three purchases means it's actually saving you money, even though you're, in fact, spending money.
"I bought a multi-flavor pack, so technically it's a bulk discount."
Doesn't matter what the receipt says. Bulk buying is savings. Savings is basically income.
"I would've bought a bottled water anyway, so this one just came with bonus stuff."
You were already going to spend money on hydration. The fact that this bottled water situation also has electrolytes, BCAAs, and vitamins B, C, and D is a free upgrade. A free upgrade is, again, basically money back.
"It fits in my bag so I'm not wasting a trip to the vending machine."
Not making an impulse vending machine purchase is savings. The Twyst that prevented that purchase is therefore also, somehow, savings.
"One straw, eight flavors to try, so really I'm just doing research."
Working through Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Grape Lollipop, Peach Ring, Crisp Apple, Strawberry Lemonade, Watermelon Lime, and Mango Passionfruit isn't indecision. It's due diligence.
Why the Math Actually Checks Out (Sort Of)
Under all the joking, there's a real reason this math feels so easy to justify: Twyst genuinely does replace a handful of separate purchases and pieces of equipment. No shaker bottle to buy. No tub of powder taking up cabinet space. No separate vitamins. Just an electrolyte, BCAA, biotin, and vitamin B, C, and D powder already packed inside the straw, pull the pick, dump the powder, peel the seal, stir, and sip.
The Takeaway
Is a Twyst technically an additional purchase? Sure, if you want to get literal about it. Is it also basically free once you factor in everything it replaces and the coffee you skipped to get it? According to girl math, also yes. We don't make the rules.
